An Anglo Saxon Riddle

from Wulfric of Creigull

She came sailing weirdly through the waves,
shouted in splendour from ship to shore,
booming loudly, her laughter terrible,
awesome on earth, edges llke swords.
She was savage with hate, slow to strike,
bloody in battle; battered ships' ribs,
ravaged harshly. She knotted riddles,
spoke in spells about her own spawning:
"My mother is a maiden of
purest descent, she is my daughter,
swollen with growth, greeted by folk
where she falls on fields of earth,
blessing the lands where men live."

What am I?
