Westermark/Brewer's Guild Warby Sir John Theophilous The combined forces of the Kingdom's and Westermark's Brewers were graced by weather with a beautiful day in which to discuss the various merits of their respective brews. About 50 fighters were in attendance, and they decided that they like the hopping of Sir Robert of Woodsende's beer, but the malting of mine. The champions list showed that Eye of the Hawk and saki are the most strongly contested drinks; the brew wagon defense proves that Westermark is better at guarding beer, while the Kingdom brewers are better able at finding it (based on the "Easter brew" resurrection melee.) The bar room brawl was very amusing, complete with waltzing "constables". No one thought that mixing armor and beer was a good idea, either on the field or off, but the best use for BUD (besides drinking, of course) was to freeze it and use it to keep other homebrew cold. The weather sallied strongly later in the afternoon with a deep fog, which made the fighting eerie to see. The golf tube arrows looked good, but are hard to feel. Some confusion came out of the engagement rules since killing from behind was not used. In general, though, an excellent early season small war. My thanks to Laura Rydel of Grasmere and Halima de la Luz, the autocrats, and to Sir Robert of Woodsende, the marshal in charge.
