Talitha’s Corner
Supporting your officers:
Chronicler
by Vicountess Talitha von Kopke
(being now Duchess Emma Fitzwilliam, OP)
This officer is easy to support-- if you're a fellow officer, give him
a copy of your report at the populace meeting so he can publish
it. If you know something about cooking, submit a recipe for
publication. If you know how to do a medieval appropriate subject
(and this can be anything from making garb to hiding the modern world
appearance of something, to advice on what to eat or wear at a tourney
to making armour, beds or the kitchen sink [I'm not kidding]), submit
the directions for publication. If you went to a tourney and want
to share the event with others, submit a tale for publication. If
you're a bard, submit a tale or song for publication. If you're
an artist, submit some artwork for publication. If you heard a
funny, SCA related joke or quip, submit it for publication. If
you host meetings, practices, or workshops, submit time and location
for publication.
Anybody notice a pattern here? Don't think of your chronicler as
a writer; think of her as a compiler and publisher. The more you
support your chronicler, the better your newsletter will be.
